What is Wired? 2014

Once upon a time technology was scarce and computers were few. The technology was primitive and the computers were fixed. The computers were in fact room-sized behemoths that could barely communicate with their programmers.

Advancements over the last 50 years, but more so the explosion over the last two, mean technology is everywhere. We carry pocket-sized companions on our person. We can now even accessorise with technology. It rarely leaves our sides because we don’t allow it to. It maintains a dialogue of data with us and each other throughout the day.

The technology is quite firmly here. We have entered the age of smart cities, smart buildings, smart people. We have entered the age of ubiquitous computing.

So what are we going to do with it now?

Wired? 2014 will explore this brave new world and hear from some of the UK’s most influential business-commentators, futurologists and from the organisations that are transforming the way they do business through the explosion of technology.
