Calder Industrial Materials Ltd Case Study
The Background
Calder Industrial Materials Ltd is one of the primary suppliers of building materials to the construction industry in the UK. As part of the Calder Group, Calder Industrial Materials is the UK’s leading supplier of engineered lead products. The Challenge
After the breakdown of the company’s dated internal telephone system, Calder Industrial Materials realised a more up-to-date telephone network was necessary to enhance its daily business activities and communications with its customers.Anne MacDonald, PA at Calder Industrial Materials said: “We were using the existing telephone system, which was installed when we moved into the building some years ago, and after the handsets began to deteriorate, we decided it was time to upgrade our system, as the replacement options just didn’t seem as cost effective.
“We wanted to have the latest technology in place to communicate effectively with each other and our clients.”
The Solution
Following discussions with Daisy Group plc and considering the business’ communication requirements, the leading unified communications provider suggested that a revolutionary HD VoIP telephone system would be key to improving both internal and external voice communication.Calder Industrial Materials’ existing out-dated LG Polycom system was replaced with a 15 extension Daisy HD VoIP solution, using the latest Polycom HD TM handsets.
The Result
MacDonald said: “We did experience some teething problems following the initial install of the system; however the staff at Daisy were quick to remedy this with a series of upgrades to the software.”The business is now able to communicate with its customers using reliable handsets, as well as some bluetooth headsets, and it can benefit from an enhanced quality of calls.
She continues: “The staff at Daisy have been very helpful through both the install and after care service. In the event of a problem being reported they have made sure that it is treated, so that we are back online as soon as possible.”
The Future
Currently, a selection of employees at Calder Industrial Materials are trialling softphones provided by Daisy. The phones have proved popular amongst the sales staff, as they are useful on the move and have the capability to be linked to the employees’ iPads. It is a relationship that will continue to grow, as Daisy provides Calder Industrial Materials with on hand maintenance for its system and guidance on the latest technology advances to ensure the company’s communications are to the highest standard.
